Adding a dynamically controlled inductive compensation system part (TCR) to our passive capacitive medium-voltage compensation systems can significantly minimise the strong reactive power fluctuations and thus strong voltage fluctuations at the MV connection points, in particular of EAF electric furnaces. The result is steadier arc operation and thus increased EAF productivity. In addition, flicker values are significantly reduced.
We dimension and customise these active MV compensation systems depending on the project-related boundary conditions (energy supply contract, harmonic and flicker limit values, interference emissions, network short-circuit power, etc.). The desired functionality is demonstrated using simulation before the system is built.
